Dr. Rosa Erra-Balsells is the president of the MS Society of Argentina. She is a Full Professor at Department of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Natural and Exact Sciences, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and Research Member (superior) of CONICET (National Council of Scientific and Technological Research), Argentina. Since 1995 she is visiting-professor at Faculty of Agriculture, Ehime University, Japan. Her main research interests are on Organic Photochemistry and Mass spectrometry techniques (EI-MS; UV-MALDI-MS; ESI-MS). She introduced norharmane as MALDI matrix for carbohydrate analysis in negative ion mode and Z-sinapinic acid too. Recently she described the combination of Pressure Probe with MALDI- and pico- and femtoESI-MS for metabolomics differentiation of intact neighbor single cells. In connection with MS teaching, she is the author of two electronic books in Spanish for MALDI-MS and ESI-MS introduction (2004) and of the book chapter titled: “MALDI: A very Useful UV Light-Induced Process…. That Sill Remains Quite Obscure” (K. Hiraoka, ed., 2013). She has published more than 180 papers and received several Awards.
