Mario Sergio Palma

Graduated in Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (1977), master's (1980) and PhD (1986) in Biochemistry at the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto-USP, post-doctorate in Bio-Organic Chemistry at SUNBOR Institute in Osaka, Japan (1994-1996). He is currently is Professor in Proteomics Analysis of the Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP). Has experience in Biochemistry, specially in the structural analysis of Biological Macromolecules, with emphasis in Chemistry of Proteins and Peptides, and Chemistry of Natural Products of animal origin. Has worked in the study of structural and functional characterization of toxins from Arthropod venoms, as well in metabolomics and proteomics of glandular secretions of insects. The expertise in mass spectrometry also includes the study of structural dynamics of proteins and peptides using mass spectrometric monitoring of H/D exchange. Currently is Editor of Chemistry of Proteins and Peptides of the journal Amino Acids (Vienna); he is a member of the editorial board of the journals Peptides, Amino Acids, Toxins Reviews and Open Journal of Spectroscopy and Toxins Reviews. He is currently a board member of BRMASS, and also is vice president of the Brazilian Society of Proteomics.
